Hope in the Word
Hope in the Word
Hope in the Word is hosted by pastors Darrell Hansen and Roy Delia.
Our Mission
The primary goal of Hope in the Word is to bring the lost to a saving knowledge of the Lord Jesus
Christ and to convince professing Christians who are unchurched or attending apostate, worldly-
churches to unite with a Bible-believing, Christ-centered, local church.
We chose to broadcast on a secular, rather than “Christian”, station as a better platform from which to
reach folks that would not tune in a “Christian” station, but who might listen to a Bible preacher that
they just happened to turn on.
Many people are not interested in Christ or the Bible simply because they have never really listened
to the Gospel and Bible truths that apply to their lives today. But the Holy Spirit might snag their interest
after listening for just a few minutes to sound biblical preaching.
“. . . it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.” (1 Corinthians 1:21(b)
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How then shall they call on him in
whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? . . . So
then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God. (Romans 10:13-14, 17)
Pastor Darrell Hansen
Personal Testimony
Hello, my name is Darrell Hansen. I became a “born again” Christian on October 9th 1979 while sitting at my kitchen table. One afternoon, the minister from the local Baptist church stopped by for a visit. He immediately had me read passages from the Bible. He led me down, what is known as, the Roman’s Road.
- Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;”
- Romans 6:23 “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”
- Romans 5:8 “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.”
- Romans 10:9 “That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.”
- Romans 10:13 “For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
- Romans 8:1 “There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.”
- Romans 8:38-39 “For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
After reading all of these verses, the minister turned to me and asked, “Would you like to pray and trust Christ today?” Much to his surprise, and mine, I answered yes! After I prayed, and the minister left, I felt such a feeling as I have never felt before. Whatever I had tasted, I liked, and I prayed several times again just to make sure I had it. I was carrying a heavy load of guilt and shame, and now, suddenly, that was all lifted!
I was so excited, I had to tell everyone about this great thing that had happened to me! Well, I soon found out that my family and friends were not nearly as excited as I was.
I must preface this story with a little background leading up to my conversion. My wife had become a Christian one year prior to my conversion. For one whole year, she would go to the altar every week to pray for her “heathen” husband! Her prayers were answered just nine days after the birth of our first son, Timothy Alan. My conversion was evidenced through a complete change of heart and direction in my life. 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.”
About Darrell
Shortly after becoming a Christian, Darrell Richard Hansen became busy in a biblically sound local Bible preaching, Bible teaching, independent Baptist church.
He attended the Bible institute at the Fundamental Baptist Church for 3 years. He also served faithfully in the church, soul winning, directing music, teaching, and preaching as the opportunity arose.
Eventually Mr Hansen was asked to served as pastor of the Fundamental Baptist Church, and held this role until being led to move to Virginia Beach, Virginia, so that he could continue his studies at the King James Bible Institute. Upon graduating, he was sent out of the Good News Baptist Church to start a church in Oregon.
With the LORD’s leading, Pastor Hansen planted the Bully Creek Baptist Church in Vale Oregon in 1991. Eventually, in 2011, the congregation was presented with a building in town. The members, making up the Bully Creek Baptist Church took occupancy of the new facility, and chose to re-name themselves the Oregon Trail Baptist Church.
Pastor Hansen presently serves as administrator of the Oregon Trail Baptist Christian academy and also teaches at the King James Bible Institute in Vale.
He also serves as radio broadcaster on the “Hope In The Word” program, and has been serving his LORD and his community in this capacity since 2011. He has been using his 37-plus years of Christian experience to bring hope to many through the preaching and teaching of the unchangeable Word of God.
Darrell uses much of the music he has written over the years on the Hope in the Word radio broadcast. He has also produced 3 CDs, and has written many songs, including fitting many of the Psalms to music. Some of Pastor Hansen’s music and corresponding sheet music can be purchased here.
Pastor Roy Delia
Personal Testimony
Even though I was raised Roman Catholic (was sprinkled, took First Communion, was Confirmed, faithfully attended Catechism, and went to an all-boys Catholic high school for a year), it wasn’t until after I left the Roman Catholic Church and started attending Bible-preaching, Independent Baptist churches that I came to receive Christ as my Saviour at the age of 32.
This was a life-changing event (2 Corinthians 5:17 Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.) and led me to study and learn more about the Bible as the true Word of God that had the answers to life’s problems.
Eventually the Lord called me into the ministry and I became a pastor at the age of 38.
After pastoring a church for 12 years and serving in another for several more years in Washington State, the Lord led me to eastern Oregon where I pastored a small church for five years and then started New Hope Baptist Church in Ontario in March of 2009.
